Ballyloughan Castle
Ruins of a 13th century castle reside on farmland in the village of Ballyloughan. The County Carlow Coogan immigrants passed along to their children legends about the castle, for example, that its late-16th Century inhabitants told the royal authorities of a priest in hiding in the neighborhood. Long after the prist was captured and summarily hanged, an eerie sound could be heard of carriages racing through the halls of the castle.
